We work with the principle of “Where Attention goes, Energy flows” – through a deeply intentional work in ceremony we introduce our guests to new tools of self-healing and transformation.
Your commitment and work during your retreat at Canto Luz will be a step in a life long process of working with your Higher Self.
We hold a gentle space for processing traumas and re-programming of psychic patterns that no longer serve. At Canto Luz we also provide space for shamanic plant dietas for the ones who are ready to embrace serious inner work and encounter plant allies.
Our goals are for long lasting changes in our guests’ lives and their accomplishments become the source of pride for Canto Luz.
Canto Luz Centre for Conservation and Cultural Preservation is a registered not for profit organization dedicated to working with local indigenous communities, supporting preservation of their cultures, healing modalities and environment. Our goal is to help to preserve the biggest tropical rainforest in the world by restoring the balance between the modern man and his surroundings, by reconnecting ourselves to our hearts through the traditional shamanic work of the Amazon.
Our home is located in the middle of primal rainforest full of animals and birds and we offer unique tree house living as a way to re-connect with nature. We offer flexible pricing on our Ayahuasca retreats, shamanic plant dietas and work exchange opportunities.
Canto Luz offers various options for accommodation and can host between 6 and 12 people at a time in our 3 double occupancy treehouses or the ground level 4-bedroom house. We are also available to host any guest retreats that might benefit from the rainforest setting. All our houses are completely misquito-proof and built with locally sourced lumber, often from salvaged wood and with focus on simplicity, sustainability and functionality.

Medicine information (content and method of preparation)Type of Medicine: AyahuascaMedicine content :
At Canto Luz, we take special pride in our medicine and our preparation technique.
The way our medicine is cooked potentiates the long term healing effects, since this is where the true strength of the ayahuasca is revealed. Each batch of the medicine is cooked non-stop over an open fire for at least 5 days before refining, in comparison to very common 12 hour cooks.
We are aware of a growing trend, created by massive ayahuasca tourism in Peru, to brew extremely psychedelic and often dangerous potions, by adding other psychotropic plants. We prepare the brew strictly with ayahuasca vine and chacruna leaf with no other admixtures and work towards continuous education of our guests about the traditional healing and long term effects vs short lived elation of a recreational trip.Medicine preparation:
All the plants are being collected in our region and the medicine prepared on site.

Canto Luz has three 15m high tree-houses built by our Quebec friends from Vivre Perche and our local Peruvian crew.
Tree living provides a rich interaction with nature and a tangible understanding of the need to preserve our heritage and our natural resources.
Spacious, bright and fully mosquitoe-proof, the tree-houses provide a perfect atmosphere to feel one with the forest. All our tree-houses are shared and have a compost toilet nearby.
All of our meals are prepared in an open concept kitchen, where you can enjoy home made food and a space to chat over a cup of tea. Canto Luz is famous for its' delicious meals.
We ensure a large variety of fruits, smoothies (made with our hand cranked blender) and fresh vegetables in Canto Luz diet. Our spring water is regularly tested and is absolutely delicious.
SustainabilityHow we ensure sustainability:
Our goal is to help to preserve the biggest tropical rainforest in the world by restoring the balance between the modern man and his surroundings, by reconnecting ourselves to our hearts through the traditional plant spirit shamanic work of the Amazon and creating community outreach programs in order to give back to the region that supports us, to inspire others to more sustainable form of living by our example and to help to preserve ancient knowledge and culture of the people populating the region.
Canto Luz ayahuasca retreat is built following sustainable guidelines from largely salvaged wood, milled right here on site. We have taken advantage of the large territory under our care and have built all the houses with enough privacy around them to accommodate quiet time for inner work between the ceremonies.
We contribute a large portion of our time and budget to the protection of the biosphere. Taking personal healing onto the planetary level, we protect 1500 acres of land from illegal logging and gold mining, we host various researches whose aim is to better understand the forest and everything and everyone who has made it their home. We are developing various community outreach programs in order to be able to give back to the forest that hosts us.
It is important for us where the plants for our medicine come from and how it affects the forest. Even though ayahuasca is not an endangered specie, it soon very well might become one. High demand for the plants in the recent decades have put a big strain on the specie. We replant a portion of the ayahuasca vine used for medicine in our retreats, making sure that we give back to the forest as we take.
