  • Welcome to The Four Gates Foundation We offer inspirational workshops, retreats and other events to bring you healing, empowerment, self-awareness and wonder, and get you back in touch with your soul. Our courses include workshops in shamanism, sin eating, curanderismo, shamanic healing, soul retrieval, Plant Spirit Shamanism and introductions to ayahuasca and other teacher plants. We also offer unique two-week residential Shamanic Practitioner diploma courses, sacred journeys to work with indigenous shamans and healers in Peru and home study programmes. And we can make healing appointments for you in Europe and internationally. The Four Gates is based in Spain where most of our courses are held. We also run sacred journeys to work with the shamans of Peru where we offer workshops and medicine retreats with ayahuasca and San Pedro, the vine of souls and cactus of vision.

Ross Heaven, founder of The Four Gates, is a psychologist, author, healer, workshop facilitator and presenter. He has trained extensively in the shamanic, transpersonal and psycho-spiritual traditions and written more than 10 books on the psychology of empowerment, shamanism, plant medicines, healing, and love and relationships. These were described by Amazon Books in an official review as "the most important to be published in years". Some have won awards, many are best-sellers and one prompted Guardian journalist James Shreeve to call Ross “the Joseph Campbell of our times”. Ross’ work has also featured on radio and television, in films and in newspapers and magazines worldwide including The Guardian, Observer, Daily Express, Mail on Sunday, Kindred Spirit, Spirit & Destiny, Prediction, Vision, Paradigm Shift, Sacred Hoop, Shaman’s Drum, Reality Sandwich, The Terry Wogan Show, Jane Goldman Investigates, The Richard & Judy Show, This Morning, and The BBC World Service. Ross also runs trips to the Amazon and Andes regions of Peru to work with the shamans and healers of these traditions. He has healing retreat Centres in Spain and Peru where he holds shamanic training courses and workshops and introduces people to the plant spirit medicines ayahuasca and San Pedro.

    Information about the shaman/facilitator

    Ceremony

Maximum number of participants in a ceremony: We keep our retreats deliberately small so personal attention is assured and there will never be more than three people maximum on any healing retreat we run.

    Accomodation

    Type of accomodation:
    • Private
    • Fullboard
    More:

Accommodation is in a comfortable farmhouse-style room which you will have to yourself. Each wing of the house has its own toilet and shower room so you have all the space and privacy you need. You also have a lounge for relaxation, a dining room where meals will be served to you (unless your diet specifies complete alone-time in which case your meals will be brought to your room) and, of course, access to our garden, open spaces and pool. Once at the Centre you will have no expenditure as the cost of your programme includes your room, meals (shamanic diet), plant medicines, ceremonies, healing consultations and counselling and one massage for each week of your stay. For those who join us to learn more about plants and shamanic healing, seminars and tuition take the place of counselling sessions and this, again, is included in the cost of your retreat.

There is an atmosphere of safety and kindness , and the surroundings are very calm and secluded. Bobby, who run the place is extremely pleasant, and helpful. A beautiful cherry and olive grove surround the yurts/ tents which are quite primitive, but still comfortable. From the small pool there is a beautiful view of low mountains. The work and ceremonies are done in a very nice moloka.

You get a very supportive, no bullshit, down to earth teacher, who spent time talking about the teacher plant from many perspectives, and answer the questions you might have. This is the one to go for if you are comfortable in a very tolerant setting where you do not have to feel especially spiritual to feel at home. He is very down to earth, but still with a great respect for the grandness and infinite perspective of the experience.

The ceremonies were beautiful. They are carried out in total darkness with icaros, drumming and ratteling. There is someone to watch out, and a feeling of safety. The only thing I didn’t like was that they are not that long (3-4 hours), and end quite sudden. After that you are on your own with the rest of the group.

You sleep comfortably in yurts or tents, shared with other people. The food is as it should be, quite boring, but safe for the dietas you are following. In that sense, it is good food.
